Special judge, CBI DM Deshmukh has sentenced Manish Shashikant Nadkar, former income tax officer, to three years in prison following his conviction in a Rs 6.92 lakh disproportionate assets case. However, his wife Rajashree, the co-accused in the case, has been acquitted of the charges.
Mr Nadkar was already convicted in 2013 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. He was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and a Rs 20,000 fine. However, he was out on bail following an appeal.The CBI then investigated the case.
CBI prosecutor Ayub Pathan said, “The second case pertains to the time period between 1992 to 2005, wherein the accused has failed to convince his income details. Now the accused has been asked to deposit the said amount.”
