Media reports suggest that incumbent CIT(Appeal) B B Rajendra Prasad . IRS five others have been taken into custody by Central Bureau of Investigation. Cash Rs 1.5 crores was seized by the CBI during the raid against the six accused.
The charge was acceptance of bribe of Rs 19 Lakh to favour a major corporate group to give a favourable order in a case pertaining to Balaji Trust in Mumbai where Essar Investments Ltd is a trustee.In this context , CBI also raided Essar’s Mumbai office and seized some documents, an action which took place based on an FIR filed in Vishakapatnam.
Prasad and the five others will be produced in a Vishakapatnam court on Wednesday.
